When is a baby considered as a preterm?

As I got some questions about when actual prematurity begins, here's a quick overview:

A baby is considered as a Preterm when it is born <37weeks.

Near term: 34-36 weeks

Extreme preterm <28 weeks

Babies between 22 weeks and 24 weeks are extremely high risk. An individual decision about resuscitation at delivery should be made following senior discussion with the family taking into account the babies other risk factors and the families views.
